When it comes to spreading info to a large number of people, print is one of the most popular media. Over the years the printing services industry has grown immensely & has reached its present form of a diversified industry. Today it can address almost any demand of the customers associated with printing & its ancillary requirements.

Large volume printing services through relief printing technology began during the–00\’s when the world\’s first printing press was invented by Gutenberg. A slight elevation of the printed matter from the base, like it is in a rubber stamp, is a key characteristic of relief printing. Relief printing is rarely in use nowadays, though there are still some cases where it is used.

Technology has always been a driving force behind changes in printing techniques that have been embraced down the years. There are several kinds of printing methods available today and each has its own role and function. The sheer diversity of available choices in printing methods in fact greatly confuses the customers.

Of all printing techniques in the market today, offset printing ranks the highest in popularity. This method uses a limited amount of ink to print the image on metal plates first and then it transfers it onto paper. This method is most suitable for bulk printing, as it is both quicker and cheaper than other techniques in the market.

Other well known forms of printing that have developed over time are electrostatic printing, which can be compared to photocopying, and thermal printing, which creates the print by heating layered thermal paper selectively.

However, the newest revolution in printing technology is digital printing. As is clear from its name, it includes image creation and manipulation on a computer, and then this computer generated image is finally printed after review. But this fast and reliable method works best in situations where only a few prints are required. As this technique allows each print to be customized it has resulted in some innovative uses like computer form printing, where items like bills and receipts are printed on a standard layout but with differing contents for each customer.

The use of the internet in printing has been another revolutionary transformation for the industry. Most printing firms run their own websites that allow clients to conveniently place orders and check out designs and specimens, without them having to walk or drive all the way to the firm\’s premises for this purpose.

Printing has always taken quantum leaps whenever there has been a technological advancement. The best part about this trend is that it will stay on track well into the future and keep enhancing the performance and efficiency of printing services.
