Article Marketing is nothing new to the world of marketing, it has been around for centuries. However, the internet has injected a new life to it with the speed and ease with which articles can be written and read. It has always been a productive way to sell a product or idea, now it is just an even better tool for the savvy marketer.
What is article marketing though? It is the use of articles to pre-sell a product, service or idea to a client. The articles are generally free and available to everybody, either on a company website or in an article directory. The beauty of this marketing method is that the client is the one that does the searching for the article.
It all generally starts in a search engine. The client types in a series of keywords in the hope of finding the article or information they need. The search engine then looks throughout all the pages on the internet it has access to in search of the best match. If your article is among the top 20 it will generally appear in the first page of the search engine. The client might then read your article and hopefully click on your link.
The articles links are generally found at the bottom of the article or subtly (sometimes not so subtly) inserted in the body of the article. Article directories tend to limit the number and location of links in articles. The skill is to make your links as relevant and interesting as possible to the reader of your article.
Links are at a premium in articles. This is because most article directories only let you use a certain number of links in each article or even limit where you can place them.
This is done to avoid articles becoming link graveyards and to stop them being overly promotional. Needless to say, these measures do not work all that well.
Back links are one way links to your site. Search engines use many factors to decide which pages fit the search keywords best. One of these factors is the number, and quality of the links that point to your website. If you write two articles a day that link back to your website you could have 700 in a year. You can be sure that very small percentile of the world’s websites has 700 quality links.
Outsourcing article marketing is a good idea if you are serious about article marketing. The reason is time and quality. Unless you are a writer at heart it is difficult to write 1000 words a day, which is what two articles generally involve. However, if you are willing to spend some cash there are thousands of writers, and people that call themselves writers that would be very happy to write them for you.
